Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic are set to miss Manchester United’s Champions League clash against Barcelona on Wednesday evening.
Both midfielders were missing as United’s players met up at their team hotel on Tuesday night ahead of the first leg of their quarter-final tie against the Spanish champions at Old Trafford.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has included 18-year-old central midfielder James Garner in his initial squad but the Norwegian could be tempted to play Fred and Scott McTominay against Barcelona after both impressed in United’s remarkable 3-1 victory over Paris Saint-Germain last month.
Marcus Rashford, meanwhile, missed United’s 2-1 defeat to Wolves last week with an ankle injury but was with the squad on Tuesday evening and is in contention to play.
