Hanson Baliruno releases 'Njaga'

Swedish based Ugandan singer and businessman, Hanson Baliruno has released yet another classic very nice love song titled “Njaga”. This song has been released and masterd by Producer Nesim and the video shot and Directed by Sasha Vibes.

In this song, he still exhibits his high but soothing  lonesome sound” which is an old bluegrass term, but it ought to be co-opted for Hanson Baliruno. If you`re not paying attention while listening to this jam as it plays, you might assume he`s already well up into falsetto..until, of course, he startles you by actually going there.

Emotionally, meanwhile, Hanson has strived for how-low-you go honors. He`s Afro Beat and Afro pop`s most heavenly limbo Artist. His most indomitable vocal prowess has got an extended comparison to fellow Ugandan David Lutalo, which is indeed inevitable.

On “Njaga” you ought to conclude that he might have spent the last couple of months on his studies-that is, taking copius mental notes on what made soul records like Sam Cooke`s classics. There is an essential virtual sparseness to this song and it is going to be an anachronistic smash hit.

A smattering of programmed ballads by Nesim on this song makes it clear no one`s being retro for retro`s sake. This record may be, first and foremost, a master class in African pop phrasing, but it`s an advanced placement course in how to spatially position the instrumentalists in minimalist R&B music.

In the past 7 years, he has taken the world by storm with the release of so many songs, performances and multiple international shows, and offering fans a chance to see him live in so many concerts both in Uganda and Sweden where he is a resident. His fan base has grown rapidly in the process, as he has a huge following on all the available social media platforms.

“Kanso”as nicknamed amongst  his peers has an inner nerd inside of him and he is not ashamed to admit that fact. He is humble in every sense of the word, upon watching Hanson perform, the audience can see he has a good heart by his stage presence. He gets up there, sings his song, interacts with the fans, and then he`s done. A ton of extra lights, sound effects, and extra stage activity isn`t needed. All Hanson needs is his microphone.

Each of Hanson`s song have a purpose. Whether listening to the beautiful ballad, “Njagala gwe” or dancing along to “Follow Follow”, it is easy to hear why Hanson`s songs are widely loved. The lyrics are unique, they stand out from many other artists` songs. He has often said that personal stories influence his creative process and it shows.

Hanson always encourages his fans with every show he puts on, recently while in Sweden, he told his fans to be real and to be themselves. In a time where individuals in the spotlight tend to say one thing and do the another, it is refreshing to see an artist like Hanson who is open and honest. What you see is what you get.

Hanson isn`t afraid to admit that he has had struggles. When talking to us (Monday Times), “Kanso”gets real about his struggles especially in his early days where his mom was so poor that he moved him to 13 primary schools, inclusive of a one Ilala primary school in Tanzania, Dar es Salam and also a one Universal Primary Education School in Bunyoro. The message of the some people expecting artists  in the Industry to have had a soft life shines through most of his songs. Hopefully, they reach all struggling individuals.

While in his high school at Church of God High School in Kasubi, Hanson was literally the type of melo-drama that anyone could pay and watch. “All those I studied with while there can confirm how popular I was, they nicknamed me MJ(Michael Jackson) as I was an entertainer of all sorts, they loved me so much and wanted me to be somewhere near my unforeseen talents, and it is safe to say I have not disappointed  them ”he narrated to us.

After finishing his High school in 2008, he joined Kampala Music School the following year where he studied music before leaving for Sweden to study Theology.

Hanson`s family is also musical as they have a couple of song writers, vocalists and Actors and he says he is an Actor too and will probably think about showcasing his Acting skills in the near future.

Hanson says that while he was still very young, the first musical instrument he learnt to play was a drum. “Back then at school, I was the best when it came to drums and I won so many personal accolades “he confirms. He also plays Keyboard and percussion.

When asked about his breakthrough song, Hanson said that it came way back in 2009 and it was a gospel song called “Counseling” where he depicted his alias “Kanso”. “ it was about letting ones spirit be natured and renewd by experiencing the spiritual uplift and inner peace and purpose so that their moods are also revitalized “he says about the song. This song indeed was a very big tune and it gave Hanson a big mark on the musical industry and he went ahead to do other classics such as; Kikunta, Malayika, Okay, Yes Yes, Njagala Gwe, Love Letter which was voted as the Best song in the Scandinavian countries  in 2014, Nze Naawe, Follow Follow, Mandela, Yoono, Temperature, among so many others.

Hanson was crowned Best African Artiste of the year in the 2013 earning him title of Africa`s King of Music in the Scandinavian Countries.

When asked about what he most thinks about, Hanson said it point blank that it is always music. “When I’m alone in my car ,my mirror , bathroom  or bed or anywhere, I always think about music and I can sing, perform or work on my vocals while there”. He adds, It is not that I do not think about other important things like my family, but there is time for everything and I spare for them their time where need be.

Hanson says he was influenced and inspired by the James Brown, Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. He admires the works of fellow Ugandan singers like David Lutalo, Eddy Kenzo, Jose Chameleon and Iryn Namubiru.

While speaking to Manager Johnny-who is managed Hanson for a very good time, he told as how he has never managed any Artist with a remarkable professional discipline as Hanson has, “I can tell you that I’m overwhelmed by the way Kanso conducts himself as an Artist, everything about him is so professional, I like the fact that he knows how to manage his time, he plans for everything before he does it, he comes for my consultation every time about anything, among others, he is just God given”.

Too much sadness can be a drag, yet there`s enough variety to the subthemes of the splitsville ballads that by the time 10 songs of Hanson have passed by an economical 42 minutes, it feels like Kanso`s lived up to that Swedish old maxim, “Leave èm wanting more melancholia.”(Well, it should be an old maxim.)
