State House officials commend President Museveni for launching grand coffee processing plant in Ntungamo

NTUNGAMO-Senior State House officials, assigned by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to follow up on his vision for getting the communities engaged in value addition have strongly appreciated the president for launching a grand coffee process plant in Ntungamo District this week.  The plant which was launched on Thursday 29 December 2022, will produce finished coffee that is ready for export. President Museveni and First Lady Hon. Janet Kataha Museveni launched the plant at a colorful ceremony graced by local leaders and officials from Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA).

In her statement at the function, Eng. Sheba Kyobutungi, leader of the team of scientists and economists assigned by the president to keep an eye and ear for and guide projects engaged in value addition or with a capacity for value addition at the grassroots, commended the president for this milestone.

“His Excellency taking time off during this festive season to launch this project can only explain how much he cares about industrialization and value addition in Uganda. This and many more such projects are the sure route to implement his sustained vision for industrialization in Uganda,” Eng. Kyobutungi said.

The coffee plant set up by Nelson Tugume of Inspire Africa, was visited by the team from State House during the course of its development, with the most recent visit being a full day at the site on 3 November 2022.

Other members of the team from State House included: Mr. Wilfred Ahaisibe, Mr. Godfrey Semujju, Dr. Hillary Musoke Kisanja, Dr. Charity Mwebesa, Eng. Safina Nakazibwe, Dr. Jessica Nanyunga Kalibbala, Eng. Susan Kageye, and Dr. Joel Isabirye.

Eng. Safina Nakazibwe, thanked the president and requested him to fully support Mr. Tugume as well as continue the roll out of engagement between the State House team and the communities to ensure that similar projects aligned with his vision for industrialization come to fruition.

“Your Excellency, what we have seen today is something that can be replicated across the country as you have always guided us to do. Nelson Tugume has adopted your vision to implement value addition and there is no turning back. Your support to him and our team of scientists to go out and identify similar projects shall greatly transform our country,” Eng. Nakazibwe said.

After the official opening of the coffee processing plant, President Yoweri Museveni addressed a gathering of local leaders and members of the community. He thanked Nelson Tugume for this milestone and asked others to emulate him.

Mr. Wilfred Ahaisibe, a member of the team also praised President Museveni’s efforts because of its transformative value to the country.

“This event is symbolic of President Museveni’s narrative for transformation. This plant and many more to come will transform Uganda economically and enhance prosperity for all Ugandans,” Mr. Ahaisibe said.

Inspire Africa’s coffee processing plant is located at Rwashamaire Ntungamo district.
