Hot on the heels of remarks by First Lady Hon.Janet Kataha Museveni, that President Yoweri Museveni, was chosen by God to lead Uganda, the Commander of the Land Forces, Maj Gen.Peter Elwelu has told Local Defense Units undergoing training in Agago District that the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) was chosen by God.
Elwelu told the LDUs that from 1981, the UPDF has slowly and steadily grown to become a national army that is revered across Africa.
Maj.Gen Elwelu closed the training which was conducted over five days, as the ideological orientation course for LDUs in Labwordwong Training School.
He gave advice to the LDUs to be focused and avoid somethings in order to be successful.

He told them that they should heed the biblical verses in John 3:3-14 and as soldiers, they should ensure that they: 1) Did not take what was not theirs; 2) Did not accuse anyone falsely; & 3) Be content with their pay.
