Birungi Hanirah Simpo is a film star from Uganda. She is an actress and director. She works with Apex Productions.

Birungi was born on 18^th April 1996. She studied at Ndejje Academy, Jamiah High School, Cambridge International, St Peter’s Seguku, MackLand Business Institute and Kampala International University (KIU). At KIU, she studied Computer Science and Graphics Design.

Birungi says she was inspired by herself. She says she also admired Mariam Ndagire and Genieve Nagi’s works on screen and on stage.

Ebye’nkya bya nkya 2016 where she played a supporting role.

Mpingu za Love 2017 where she played a supporting role as Simpo.

My Kingdom 2017 where she played as a supporting Maid

Dilema 2017 where she played as an extra.

In speaking about the industry, Birungi told us that the directors are friendly and supportive. They are caring, and care even beyond matters which are not about the film. She says she has been paid well by the directors. “I have also made new friends who have been helpful in various aspects.”

On the other side, Birungi says, that she finds the hectic schedule for rehearsals very tiring. “We have to rehearse and rehearse everyday.”

In her world Birungi Hanirah Simpoi has those she looks up to. She says, “if I get the opportunity, I would like to work with Mariam Ndagire, Christen Senndi, John Segawa, Aloysius Matovu and those actors and actresses from Nollywood.

Her favorite movies are without you, second chance (Ugandan version).

When we asked her for any advice that she would give to anyone interested in becoming an actor or actress, she says “join with passion and commitment.”

She thinks that her talent stands out and she believes in it, which is a powerful attribute.
