Uganda’s Joshua Cheptegei, has done it again, breaking the world 5,000m at the IAAF Diamond League in Monaco.
Before Cheptegei’s 12:35:36 run, the previous world record of 12:37:35 was held by Kenenisa Bekele, of Ethiopia. With tis new world record, Cheptegei adds to the 15km world record which he also holds.
Ugandans on social media jubilated to see the country’s foremost athlete today do the nation proud.
