Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) stalwarts are on tenterhooks after it emerged that outgoing president Mugisha Muntu might be plotting a new political party.

The allegations which began over the weekend gained momentum by Sunday evening, with an report doing round on social media. It is alleged that Muntu along with Semujju Ibrahim Nganda, met in a secret location in Kampala and were going to form a new party with other political figures like Miria Matembe.

Although no official statement had come from Mugisha Muntu regarding this, the allegations posted on different social media accounts show the need for the new party president Patrick Amuriat to tread a careful line of reconciliation.

In one radio show on Saturday, Bugweri MP Abdu Katuntu said that it was important for FDC to stay as one. It was also necessary for the new leadership to reach out to the old one and see how to work together, he added.

“The politics of elections is one of win and lose. When you win, you have to keep your head level, when you lose, you have to do the same. Those who lost should take a back seat and try to understand the meaning of their loss,” Katuntu said.
