City Oilers and Uganda Silverbacks Captain, Jimmy Enabu has retired from basketball at the age of 31.

What a sad day for the sport. A dark day for City Oilers. A great loss for the Uganda Silverbacks. A dagger to the heart of the basketball faithful.

His decision to retire from the court comes due to a family dream of seeing him fly aircrafts.

Captain David Enabu, who is Jimmy’s father, is a pilot and has reportedly been demanding his son to join him in the cockpit. And as we confirm his retirement news, Jimmy has already enrolled into Kajansi Flying School to fulfill a family dream.

Jimmy could not resist any longer, walking away almost suddenly — just as everyone expected to see him lead another Oilers NBL and Zone V title run-in.

Jimmy is arguably one of the greatest talents that have graced the local basketball scene. He made a remarkable contribution to the Silverbacks and City Oilers where he has won six consecutive National Basketball League titles.

Even this year, Jimmy has put on his A-game in the NBL regular season and in Uganda’s Zone V AfroChan campaign.

Jimmy enjoyed a normal basketball year, playing the entire 2019 regular season and Uganda’s Zone five AfroChan campaign, looking every bit the NBL’s most explosive player of the last seven seasons.
