Sancta Maria is a nursery and primary school located in Bukoto Kampala. The school has been in existence for 21 years, having started in 1996. We met with the proprietor of the school, who told us how they have been able to serve their parents and students for this period of time.

Proprietor Sancta Maria: We have classes from nursery (baby class), top class, and primary from p1 to p7

It is a day and boarding school.

We have a well stocked library.

The school has a van service to transport children from home to school and from school to home.

We provide five meals a day.

We have extra-curricular activities. These include swimming, music dance and drama, sports. We interact with other schools such as international schools to develop our children’s intellectual, social and technological skills.

We offer bursaries to the children who are disadvantaged

We have been offering bursaries since 2004.

Proprietor Sancta Maria: We have permanent structures which are spacious and it makes the learning environment conducive. We have qualified teachers who are self-driven.

We have welcoming teachers with parental care.

We have been performing highly with over 90% getting first grade.

We have been ranked among the top ten schools in Kampala.

Monday Times: Why did you get interested in starting the school?

Proprietor Sancta Maria: I had a passion to pass on knowledge to the young generation in order to brighten their future.

Proprietor Sancta Maria: We open at 8am and close at 6pm

Proprietor Sancta Maria: The fees are good and affordable

Monday Times: What should the parents do for the children to perform well in class?

Proprietor Sancta Maria: They should supervise them, do homework and visit the school more often to get feedback on the children. They should attend to the official days more often.

They should limit un-educative programs on television on to the children.

Proprietor Sancta Maria: We started in 1996.
