MP Kyagulanyi Sentamu has recorded and released a song entitled ‘freedom’ which he says is meant to mobilize people against supporting the removal of age-limit provision in the constitution.

Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine sings about the need for President Yoweri Museveni to retire and pass on the baton to the young generation. In a video seen relating to the song, Bobi Wine is clad in red, a common sight with the anti-age limit movement.

“I want the masses to stand up against this attempt to rape our constitution,” Bobi Wine said.

Bobi Wine who has been at the forefront of the anti-age-limit removal movement has recently been banned from performing at some concerts. Police said it was investigating his comments that incited the public, at a show held in Busabala in October.

The process of removing the age-limit moved to the legal and parliamentary affairs stage, this week, where Raphael Magyezi, the author of the constitution amendment bill of 2017, was invited to make a presentation.

MPs are traversing their constituencies to seek the views of the people about the age-limit provision in the constitution. The response from across the country has been mixed, with some for removal and some against removal of the age-limit.

Conspicuously Bobi Wine’s fellow musicians who supported President Museveni in the last elections in the Tubonga Nawe project have remained silent.
