Mr.Derrick Orone, a prominent businessman in Kampala has decided to go back to his home area to transform it from what it is to a much improved region. Today we spoke to him about his plans and he shared with us what he intends to do and a little bit about his life.

Monday Times: Good morning Mr. Derric Orone. You have expressed interest in representing people of Pallisa in Parliament. Many people in the district, who we have spoken to think that you have good ideas. Tell us a bit about what you plan to do for Pallisa when the elect you.

Mr. Derrick Orone: Orone Derrick is a prominent business man Aspiring candidate for Agule county Pallisa district. I am born of Akisim Agule county. I am 31 years of age.I was born to Dr Kasajja Abraham of Akisim sub county and my mother is Sagatti Winfred Akurut Jannefer from Gogonyo .Basically the people of Agule should expect a lot from me am not a man of many words but my actions speak louder .

Our people especially the youth and women are unemployed this is because our leaders have failed to engage them in youth fund programs and lobby for this money which other districts are getting talent is key if we are to eradicate unemployment in our county and I already begun on that through football tournaments and music

Our people can be trained different skills this is through creation of these technical centers to train our people and through that they can start creating their own jobs .

The health system in our county is poor no medicine long distances covered by our people to access these health centers I have already provided a vehicle that’s acting as an ambulance helping my people and I will continue to add more vehicles to help my people have easy access to these health centers, with the issue of lack of medicine we need proper allocation of resources and intervention of NGOs so we work hand in hand .not every leader can lobby lobbying needs a dedicated connected and intelligent leader who can sit down with the organizations and convince them to come in and help our people.

Monday Times: How different are you believe you will be from previous politicians in the district?

Mr. Derrick Orone: Am not a leader who is coming to benefit from the tax payers money am a leader who will put all my efforts and all the opportunities got to the best use of my people. My network is so big and this is all going to benefit my people .Even before am elected my difference has already been noticed from all my projects. So we will work hand in hand

As the agriculture being carried out is just for home consumption our farmers lack market for their produce.

Monday Times: What do you think are Pallisa’s major challenges today?

Mr. Derrick Orone: We are facing many challenges almost in every sector ,our schools are not performing well the students or pupils don’t even assess good education, the health system is poor we see mothers dieing everyday ,infant mortality rates are increasing ,The high rates of domestic violence in our districts, unemployment among our people ,poor agricultural systems as most of the agriculturalists don’t benefit from their produce .

The fishermen are not protected on the different sites no ambulances in case of accidents ,no any measures completely they have no nets to use.

Monday Times: Why did you choose to stand on NRM party ticket?

Mr. Derrick Orone: I have always supported the NRM Government since I was a little child. The NRM government has done a good job and we should appreciate the challenges we have are because of some of our leaders who don’t want to bring these services NRM offers closer to our people because Trust me if the programs of the current government are well implemented we would not be having poor health centers ,poverty etc .

Monday Times: When you win and if you are appointed to be a Minister, will you accept to serve?

Mr. Derrick Orone: Refusing to serve is refusal to bring development to our people so yes for our people I will serve if given the opportunity.

All these activities are supposed to Boost our economy but all this is not being done

Because the important aspect is willingness to serve the people

Monday Times: If you are given a Ministerial post, which one do you think is best for you to make a difference?

Mr. Derrick Orone: Any ministerial post given benefits our people because it covers why sector in our economy.Leadership is not about titles, positions, or flow charts. It is about one life influencing another.
