Inspector General of Police (IGP) Gen.Kale Kayihura has warned other security agencies against fighting his officers. In a speech made at a requiem mass for the fallen Aviation Police Boss Caleb Mwesigye Kamindi, Kayihura said that most of the allegations against his officers are false.

“I am not saying that they should be investigated. But we should have concrete proof before making flimsy allegations against them,” Kayihura said.

He added that Kamindi was a victim of such falsehoods.

“They said so many things about Caleb, that were untrue. Instead of following through with thorough investigations they kept on peddling lies about him. This must not continue,” Gen Kayihura said.

Caleb Mwesigye Kamindi is reported to have been under investigation for smuggling illicit drugs and ivory at Entebbe Airport where he was deployed. He was the head of the police force in the area.

A local newspaper report last Sunday quoted an officer who says that he had been maligned because he had pointed out certain things that were being done wrong by Kamindi.

This is the first time the IGP is speaking about the recent investigations and arrests concerning his officers.
