One Love Dread Lock Unisex Salon is a one stop centre for dreadlocks in Uganda. It has three branches which serves all the people in the areas in which they are located.

Shillah Nekesa spoke to the owner Prossie Wanyama who shared about their work in the three branches.

Shillah Nekesa:  What exactly does One Love Dread Lock Unisex Salon really do?

Prossie Wanyama: We do several things but we specialize in dreadlocking, natural hair, natural dread and artificial dreadlocks.

We also do pedicure and manicure. For those who want massage we can do it at an added cost.

Shillah Nekesa: How different are you from other salons?

Prossie Wanyama: We only specialize in dreadlocks, it is our uniqueness.

Shillah Nekesa: Can you go to make the dreadlocks for people where they are say at their homes or work places?

Prossie Wanyama: Yes we do at a cost. We usually ask for transport, meals and the cost of doing the dreadlocks, because we tend to work for a whole day.

Shillah Nekesa: What challenges do you face as a business?

Prossie Wanyama: We have few customers in this year’s festive season.

Shillah Nekesa: What advice do you tend to give to people who w ant to use your services?

Prossie Wanyama: I am a professional and so I tell them to take care of their hair so when they come back we do not change much.

Shillah Nekesa: What advice do you give someone who wants to start a business like yours?

Prossie Wanyama: Location is very key. Look out for where people do dreads a lot.

Shillah Nekesa: Where are you located?

Prossie Wanyama: We are located in three different places. Our main branch is in Kawempe at the stage along Tula Road.We have other branches in Mengo and Mukono.
