KAMPALA-Just before his burial, the mother of the late fast rising producer Danz Ku Mapeesa hinted that her son had been killed by people within the music industry. Her disclosure got tongues wagging. “Who really killed Danz Ku Mapeesa?” many asked.
Social media has been filled with speculation. Some point to an internationally known singer with a BET award, others to fellow producers while another group of speculators list thugs as the culprits.
Like any other celebrity deaths, such speculation is bound to follow.
Police investigations into the assault on Danz Ku Mapeesa revealed that it was an attempted robbery, with the criminals still at large. “It is unlikely that they even knew who they were attacking,” a source at police told Monday Times. “It is the same way Lucky Dube was killed, with the killers expressing regret a few days after,” the source who spoke on condition of anonymity added.
At the age of 22, Daniel Mukisa had established himself as a producer. As Danz Ku Mapeesa he had registered several hits as a producer. Among these were ‘Mbozi ya malwa’ (Bebe Cool and Sauti Sol, ‘Yo Sweet’ by Remah, ‘Magic’ by Winnie Nwagi and ‘Musawo’ by Winnie Nwagi.
He was buried on Monday October 9, 2017 at his ancestral home in Mukono.
