Uganda is crowning its next Miss Tourism ambassador at the grand finale this Saturday at Serena hotel. She will be Uganda’s sixth tourism queen who is expected to promote Uganda internationally while marketing the tourism potential of the pearl of Africa.

Different aspirants for the title entered the contest in May this year, after the launch of the pageant. Twelve regions across the country including Ankole, Kigezi, Rwenzori, West Nile, Northern, Karamonja, Teso, Busoga, Buganda, Bunyoro, Tooro, and Kabalore sent their three representatives making a total of thirty six regional ‘ambassadors’ to compete nationally.

Contestants have since competed in various activities like project presentations, self-presentations, sports, talent sessions, self-presentation that contribute to their chances of becoming the next Miss Tourism Uganda 2017.

The twelve lucky finalists include; Tumuhimbise Rita from Ankole region, Nayebare Anita from Ankole region, Challa Elma from Karamoja region, Aaayu Jessica from Teso, Wanyenze Gloria Eastern region, Birungi Janat Kigezi, Ahura Jackline Bunyoro, Amuge Gertrude Teso, Jokudu Gertrude, Allele Gloria from Northern region, Katumba Beatrice and Nakimuli Mary from Buganda among others.

This year’s event is held under the theme ‘Let the Pearl Shine.’ The grand finale ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 21, at Kampala Serena hotel. Tickets go for Ushs 50,000 standard, UShs 200,000 VIP and UShs 3m for corporate tables. The current Miss Tourism Uganda is Eildad Epiaka Odongkara.
