Pay Television provider Azam Television has dropped local channels from its menu, following a directive from the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC). The move which a source at Azam said was aimed controlling broadcast coverage by channels not licensed to broadcast on digital threatens to disrupt its operations.
The notice to drop the channels was given to Azam TV customers as follows:

We regret to inform you that the below local channels will be switched off from our platform tonight as directed by #UgandaCommunicationsCommission(UCC).
